This coffee is produced for us by the Carvalho family, who have achieved near legendary status in Brazil. Their fazenda (farm) is located in the Vale de Grama region, home to Brazil’s most celebrated farms. It’s a 1000-acre plot with about 250 acres planted in coffee. The farm has an on-site school for all employees’ families to use, and there are about 300 children who take advantage of the services. This specific lot is a peaberry selection of both natural and pulp natural beans. It stood out on the cupping table for its subtle floral characteristics (jasmine), amidst the overall flavors of pecan, amaretto, and a hint of cherry. This coffee has medium body, and a clean, sweet, but lingering finish. It makes an exceptional espresso.
