We first came across this coffee at a public cupping with Gold Mountain Coffee during the 2023 SCA Expo. This coffee immediately jumped out to us as a textbook example of what a “floral” coffee tastes like. Super perfumy and sweet, we get the gamut: jasmine, rose, lilac, lavender and cherry blossom. The sweetness reminds us of concord grape and ripe cherries.
Nicolas and Angela’s coffees stand out on pretty much any cupping table. They produce washed, honey, and natural process coffees and the high quality is always easily identifiable. Their farm is named El Porvenir, and it is located in Jinotega, Nicaragua. They have several children and 12 grandchildren. One of their daughters, Mireya, is taking over the farm in a multi-year transition so that her parents can work towards retirement.
While this is our first year offering coffee from Nicolas and Angela, we have already contracted selections from future harvests, and we are excited to share these incredible coffees for years to come.
